September 12-13, 2024
The goals of the
PSID Annual User Conference
are to provide new and experienced researchers with a forum to present preliminary results, to obtain comments
and feedback from experienced PSID data users and PSID study staff, to facilitate future collaborations including NIH and NSF proposal submissions, to learn
about new PSID data, and to provide feedback to PSID about study content and future data collections.
The 2023 User Conference will be held on September 12-13 in Ann Arbor, MI, at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan. It will include papers
covering a variety of topics and using data from PSID, the Child Development Supplement, and the Transition into Adulthood Supplement.
The event is supported by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute on Child Health and Human Development, the National Institute on Aging, and the National
Science Foundation. Attendance is restricted to registered participants and invited guests.
June 17-21, 2024
This five-day workshop will orient participants to the content and structure of the core PSID interview, its special topics modules, and its supplemental studies,
including the Child Development Supplement (CDS), the Transition into Adulthood Supplement (TAS), and the 2013 Rosters and Transfers Module. In addition we will
discuss topics including genomics data collected from children and primary caregivers in CDS as well as new data files which explain family relationships and demographic
characteristics over time.
Activities will be divided between lecture sessions, discussions, and hands-on labs, allowing ample time for breaks. Lecture sessions will cover topics such as study design,
changes to content and sample composition over time, rules for following sample members into new households, and weighting. Classroom lab sessions using PSID data extracts will
illustrate key concepts and participants will develop their own analytic data files under the guidance of project staff.
The event is supported by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute on Child Health and Human Development, the National Institute on Aging, and the National Science Foundation.
